Relentless Mentoring as if our own children

Relentless Mentoring as if our own children

Safe Passage is free to all youth and includes daily on-site tutoring/mentoring and nutrition provided right in the children’s apartment and condominium complexes. This also includes safe escorts from school to community centers, home, as well as educational events and field studies. Children spend Monday through Saturday in STEAMO classes. STEAMO is STEM with Art and Outdoors added.

Not only has this year-round connection helped to improve their education, it has also increased the micro-community population’s connection to the community as a whole.

This approach is different from other community youth programs because Safe Passage brings all the activities and guidance to the children’s home environment at their micro-community of apartments and condominiums. Safe Pasaage is  focused on helping make pathways for K-6 grade children in order to avoid being enticed into gangs. A child’s future is up for grabs in the first 4000 days and Safe Passage is there to provide the path to adulthood.

Grit and Resilency

Not a single Safe Passage youth has a backyard. That's right not a one! Exposure to nature and the outdoors needs to happen with Conejo Recreation and Park District and T-Oaks Police Officers taking them camping and hiking regularly.

Objectives

Grit and Resilency

Objectives

· First, provide safety through gang enforcement activities and the isolation of gang “influencers” within the two communities.

· Second, maintain trust and friendship with the families living in the communities.

· Third, fill the youth’s needs for what gangs have traditionally provided.
