Safe Passage Youth is an alternative to traditional policing, incorporating youth and social justice for marginalized children. Police and community members work side by side. Currently 100’s of impacted families receive a weeks worth of groceries & every day nearly 400 children receive breakfast and lunch at Safe Passage. All infants are provided nutrition and diapers. The kids are at a CRPD real day camp all summer. All Free of Charge. This is the style of policing that maintains Peace
$50 MICRO GRANTS GIVEN TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES THAT HAVE CHILDREN AND WHERE ONE OR MORE PARENTS ARE NOW UNEMPLOYED. THESE GRANTS CAN MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE & ECONOMIC SURVIVAL. OUR VETTING FOR EACH APPLICANT INCLUDES A PANEL OF COMMUNITY LEADERS. WE ARE IN OUR THIRD CYCLE DELIVERING 1000’s $ TO FAMILIES
Safe Passage responded immediately to COVID & operates with volunteers 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Free of charge,we provide all children with daily food, face masks, gloves, infant diapers,baby formula and weekly fresh produce & fruits for 100’s of families.Over 7,031 take home STEM projects.Full STEM Summer camps
Safe Passage is partnered with Conejo Community Outreach and has delivered over 38,207 diapers to Conejo Mothers at the two Safe Passage COVID Relief Centers. Each day Safe Passage distributes masks and disposable gloves, baby formula, baby wipes, diapers and special diet needs to hundreds of infants. Intervention specialists check in with each mom daily. CONEJO COMMUNITY OUTREACH is saving the lives of families in the Conejo. We owe them gratitude. Over 63,000 disposable gloves delivered by Safe Passage to micro communities of color who generally are underserved.
During the summer, we provide daily nutrition to over 380 children impacted by lack of access. Monday to Friday we assist the School District running satellite nutrition centers for them. Dispersing lunch and breakfast that the CVUSD has prepared for the children. On each weekend, Safe Passage continues on with the aid and purchases / distributes over 900 meals for the 380+ children at the two Covid Relief centers to ensure they each receive food 7-days a week. Every Saturday we provide every micro community family with 38 -46 pounds of fresh food to survive another week. Over 8,000 pounds per week. 102,063 COVID Relief meals have been distributed at two COVID Help Centers in this partnership to the most underserved children in 60 square miles. Partnered with CONEJO REC & PARK, TOPD CVUSD and ART TREK. Safe Passage continues during COVID with daily outdoor homework, science and school help at our sites. Many of these kids need supplemental tutoring daily. Safe Passage has provided over 65 chrome books free of charge to micro community isolated children without family financial means and will be delivering more. We have provided and continue to provide daily free WiFi hot spots in underserved low income children’s homes and have opened up WiFi networks all free of charge to families most impacted. We provide cell phones to ensure safety and weekly take home STEM art, science and family engagement projects provided by Art Trek and the Discovery Science Center. This summer we have kids going to a real live in person STEM day camp for 10 weeks.
The American Red Cross is partnered with us providing emergency workers at our Safe Passage COVID Food Relief Center. They are a crucial component to providing healthy relief to micro community residents who lack access. The community feels even safer knowing the Red Cross is in their neighborhoods partnered with Safe Passage and Conejo Recreation and Park District and CVUSD.
Food Share Ventura County is partnered with us providing emergency food at our Safe Passage COVID Food Relief Centers. They are a crucial component to providing nutritional relief to micro community residents who have food access insecurities. The community feels even safer knowing that Feeding America's Food Share is in their neighborhoods partnered with Safe Passage and Conejo Recreation.

ART TREK HAS LONG BEEN SERVING MICRO COMMUNITIES WITH STEAM EDUCATION. THEY STAFF SAFE PASSAGE COVID CENTERS AND PROVIDE SUPPLIES OF DAILY FACE MASKS FOR EVERY MOTHER AND CHILD. IN ADDITION, ART TREK EACH WEEK, HELPS DISBURSE 8,000 POUNDS OF FRESH FOOD, PRODUCE, VEGETABLES TO SAFE PASSAGE FAMILIES. ART TREK COVID RELIEF INCLUDES WEEKLY ART CAMP PROJECTS & TAKE HOME PROJECTS FOR OVER 380 UNDER SERVED MICRO COMMUNITY FAMILIES. ART TREK IS A PRECIOUS RESOURCE. WE COULD NOT HELP 380 + KIDS WITHOUT THEM.
Fall 2020 AmeriCorps program (AmeriCorps) has partnered with California Lutheran University and Safe Passage to provide academic college tutors to kids. The AmeriCorps College members will serve as literacy tutors supporting Kindergarten through 5th grade by providing one-on-one tutoring in science reading and math.
We are a community of organizations; Conejo Recreation and Park District, Schools, Nonprofits, Volunteers, Health Care providers, Businesses and the Police Department focused on helping make pathways for K-6 grade children in order to avoid being enticed into gangs. Since 2014, the local gang population has been decreased 34.8% because of Safe Passage. A 25 year record low.
These children are up for grabs. Our community can protect them, or gangs can. They spend 6 days a week with positive role models that include retired teachers, street cops, youth counselors. In total 31,283 hours for 2019.
Ask any cop. Have they ever arrested a 15-35 year old gang member that spent any day of the week at a Theatrical Performance, Play, Art Show, Museum or Music Class? The Answer, "NO." We can't simply keep arresting our way out of society's youth social problems. Safe Passage sends all children free of charge each week to plays, art classes, musicals, museums and colleges.
